From routine servicing to vintage restorations, a range of owners share their thoughts.

Phuket Town
Brought in my grandfather's Seiko that hadn't run in years. The assessment was thorough — they told me exactly what condition the movement was in before asking whether to proceed. The restoration took about six weeks and the result was better than I'd hoped. They even noted a small crack in the crystal I hadn't noticed.

I wear my dive watch in the sea regularly and was worried about moisture getting in. The seal service was handled quickly and they explained exactly which seals were replaced and why. They were honest that not all resistance guarantees apply past a certain depth, which I appreciated rather than found annoying.

Visiting from UK
Was only in Phuket for two weeks and noticed my automatic had started losing time significantly. They were upfront that a full service wouldn't be ready before I left, but managed a regulation and basic check that got it keeping reasonable time for the rest of my trip. Practical and honest advice.

Chalong, Phuket
Brought two watches for regular maintenance — one I wear daily and one I rotate. The condition notes were detailed enough that I actually learned something about how each movement differs. The prices are fair for the quality of work and I felt neither rushed nor pressured at any point.

I was unsure whether to spend on restoring a 1970s dress watch or simply let it sit. The assessment gave me enough information to decide for myself. No oversell — they told me what was worn, what was still sound, and roughly what restoration would involve. I went ahead, and the watch now runs reliably.

French expat, Phuket
The humidity here has been harder on my watch than I expected. The seal service made a real difference — no more condensation under the crystal after beach days. Communication was clear throughout and the cost was exactly what was quoted. Worth doing as routine maintenance for anyone living near the coast.

A closer look at three restorations
Case studies from pieces that required more than a standard service.
Case Study 01 · Vintage Restoration

The watch: A 1968 automatic wristwatch inherited from an owner's father. Not worn in over twenty years. Movement completely seized, and a previous amateur attempt had left a damaged plate.
What we did: Full disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, damaged plate assessed and stabilised rather than replaced to preserve original parts. Worn jewels replaced. Movement rebuilt and regulated over two weeks.
Outcome: Watch now runs within ±12 seconds per day. Owner was present for a walk-through of the completed movement before reassembly.
Duration: 7 weeks · Service: Vintage Restoration
Case Study 02 · Seal Service
Challenge

The watch: A diver worn in the Andaman Sea for three seasons without any seal maintenance. Visible fogging on the inner crystal after warm-water dives. Original seals had hardened and cracked on close inspection.
What we did: All seals replaced, crown tube cleaned and re-gasket, case back torqued correctly. Water resistance tested to rated specification. Owner advised on maximum safe depth and recommended service interval for coastal use.
Outcome: No fogging in four months of continued use. Owner now schedules annual seal checks.
Duration: 5 days · Service: Water Resistance & Seals
Case Study 03 · Service & Maintenance
Challenge

The watch: A daily-wear automatic gaining around 40 seconds per day and occasionally stopping overnight when set on a non-metal surface. Last service unknown — possibly 8 or more years prior.
What we did: Full service including disassembly, cleaning, and re-lubrication. Mainspring tested and replaced as a precaution. Movement regulated across five positions over a monitoring period.
Outcome: Now running at +6 seconds per day consistently. No stopping issues reported in six weeks of subsequent wear.
Duration: 3 weeks · Service: Service & Maintenance
